PAPERBACK ONLY. I've read a criticism online of Nippon Shock Magazine that it's "not very structured," probably meaning it doesn't have a rigid structure, a central focus on a single topic or aspect of the world of manga and anime (unlike other publications, both Japanese and otherwise). While everyone is entitled to their own opinions and tastes, I believe this isn't a flaw, but rather a virtue, the result of a deliberate editorial choice. Nippon Shock Magazine's goal is to provide a comprehensive overview of the Japanese visual imagination, from manga to anime, from photography to illustration, from television to everyday life. We're curious people who love discovering new authors and new ways of expressing ourselves, who prefer to venture off the beaten path to stumble upon unseen places. That's why our articles look closely at the present and future, focusing primarily on manga that have just arrived in Italy or are unpublished, showcasing little-known authors, innovative series, and original images. This doesn't mean we don't like old series, which we always dedicate space to, but much has already been said about the glories of the past, and much can be found online without much effort. It's better, then, to focus on what others ignore, providing something new and intriguing. Our hope is that in every issue you'll find something that will make you say, "Wow, how great, I didn't know about this!" We are explorers of the imagination, we love multi-course meals, we're not afraid of new things, on the contrary, we crave them. If that's your spirit, you've bought the right magazine. Happy reading!
